Our Story

St John's was planted by Holy Trinity Brompton and St Stephen's Twickenham in 2010 and it has always been our heart to bless other churches in the way that we were blessed.

Since being established, we have been involved in helping to plant and resource other churches in the area (eg St Peter's West Molesey, All Saints Hampton).

As part of our vision to Love Jesus, Build Community, and Transform Lives, we want to continue to give away what we have been blessed with here, planting and resourcing other churches in the wider area, and coming alongside churches in our local area.

St John's was invited by the Bishop of Kensington to partner with St Mark's, Teddington. St John's will come alongside St Mark's as we move towards a shared vision.

Jerry is now the Vicar of both locations and Tom is Minister-in-Charge at the St Mark's location whilst remaining part of the team at St John's.

  • HAMPTON WICK

    St John the Baptist Church in Hampton Wick was built in 1830 and designed by locally born architect Edward Lapidge. Originally a chapel-of-ease to St Mary’s, Hampton, it became its own parish in 1831. It closed in 2008, but was revitalised in 2010, when HTB and St Stephen’s Twickenham planted here.

  • TEDDINGTON

    Revd Robert Borland started the church in a school in the 1870s. The church grew and ended up on St Mark’s Road in 1915. The current church is the second church on the site and was possibly the last church in England to be consecrated before the outbreak of war in 1939.

    In 2024 we partnered with St John’s Hampton Wick (the church we used to share a parish with). We are excited about this next step in our history as we move towards a shared vision, uniquely expressed in each location.

    Rev Jerry Field is now the Vicar of both St Mark’s and St John’s  and Rev Tom Simpson is Minister-in-Charge at St Mark’s whilst remaining part of the team at St John’s Location.
